The Shorebound Shark Tourney is currently managed by SBFG (Shorebound Fishing Group, LLC). SBFG was formed by a group of dedicated shore bound fishermen who share a passion for the sport. As a group, our mission is to provide other shorebound anglers a place to obtain information, purchase merchandise & equipment, and participate in tournaments geared specifically to shore bound fishing enthusiasts.

Besides organizing various shore bound fishing and special events, our organization is dedicated to passing on to other shore bound anglers the importance of conservation, good fishing ethics and passing this knowledge down to our younger generation to ensure a bright future for our favorite sport.

Our first of many scheduled tournaments was the 2007 Shorebound Shark Tourney. It is the largest land based shark tournament in Florida and was open to anglers statewide during that year. The various teams spent months preparing for this tournament as it requires a lot of stamina, effort, and skills to land a large shark from shore. I want to congratulate all the anglers, sponsors, and supporters that joined us in this ultimate experience, the “SBFG Shorebound Shark Tourney”. The tourney has become one of the most talked about fishing tournament events across online forum boards, bait and tackle shops, beaches, and bridges. Many are flabbergasted to know about big game fishing from shore. News about the winner of the tourney were even published in a major Florida news paper, and an interview was broadcast in the radio. The tournament has now opened to other states.

This tournament is a catch and release tournament. In order to better understand the different shark species and help with their survival, we are currently offering bonus points for tagging and releasing sharks. We welcome all anglers to join us in this exciting experience.
